In 1993, Kim and Francisco meet at the University of Oregon while studying art, photography and sculpture and the rest as they say…is history.

The two got engaged after four months of dating and were married a few months later on a small island in Greece. Oh the stories they can tell. They moved north from Eugene to Portland for Kim to complete a Masters in Art Therapy and had a photo studio on the side. Kim eventually left the therapy world to join Francisco in the photo studio. Together Francisco and Kim they built and still operate Portland's favorite boutique portrait studio. Campbell Salgado Studio is nestled in the Sellwood Moreland SE neighborhood of Portland and Kim works as the principal photographer.

They saved up until they were finally able to purchase a 1908 Craftsman on a well-traveled corner in Sellwood Moreland. Since 2005 it’s been used as a mom and pop shop for their many businesses. They were feeling pretty smug about their ten second commute from their living space upstairs to their working space until the pandemic.

As empty nesters they decided to put their basement level space to a new use. The result is a sweet suite for travelers wanting a chill, friendly, neighborhood vibe when they visiting or staycationing in Portland.

An Oregon native, Kim Campbell is a widely-respected photographer and business women who delights in finding beauty in art, music, nature and people.

She has honed her craft over the last 25 years and is humbled to think of the thousands of walls she has decorated over the years with portrait photography. Having really genuine moments with people is what makes waking up every day a pleasure. Curious and creative she also crafts fine art photography, which can be viewed here.

In 2022 she launched Dare Heart, a line of small batch, exquisitely sewn, cotton underwear made on the West Coast. Her brand is for women who value personal authenticity over societal expectations. Making sculpture, traveling around the world, and enjoying great conversations with the people he meets are a few of Francisco's favorite pastimes.

All of the sculpture you encounter in our space is primarily the work of Francisco. Not only did he study Sculpture at the U of O he also earned a BFA in Photography. Many of the sculptures around our property will imagined and built by Francisco.
